While each of these trips to the yacht would last about eleven minutes, others arriving at the jetty were welcomed and engaged to the sound of tambourines reverberating the rustic wooden location under the night sky. There was cutting chai, local cookies and lots of slurping amongst social talk!
Kolkata based experiential events expert and founder White Salt Entertainment, Dipti Shah added, “Experiences make us rich. One may forget the colour schemes at the party, the grand lavish dinner spreads but what stays with guests and party attendees is the experience. At White Salt we strive to create these experiences by way of personalisation. For this one, to start with, we customised the ‘Chai Pe Charcha’ engagement with the local flavours of the famous Bengal ‘Laal Cha’ or warm lemon tea with a pinch of rock salt and matched it with a smiling young lad in regular shorts to serve the tea announcing ‘laal-chaa, garam-garam chaa’ at regular intervals and humming old hindi melodies at the venue!”
Small groups of 40 each were ferried to the luxury yacht in a dimly lit steamer; they also enjoyed the taste and sight of a typically old man flipping Papad on a rustic ‘koyla bhatti’ and live sprinkling it with masala, while the others enjoyed ‘Garam-Goti’ or hot ‘bhujia’ mix by a ‘topiwala’ clad in classic local white!
Each time the steamer arrived with packets of seemingly excited guests, a pyrotechnic-flash welcomed them aboard. The luxury yacht was done up in gold and black, both indoors and outdoors with focus being on personalising the party experience for the guest of honour and his half a century journey. Lovely floral garden patches on the deck with tiny warm yellow lights hanging across the place complimented the large signature laser-carved and dull gold Moroccan lanterns.
The guest of honour was engaged in a highly personalised moment of wish-lantern releasing and candid photography with immediate family followed by a dedicated fire antics session. This was eventually followed by socially engaging party experience with friends and family, active participation of guests for live musicals and a themed cake cutting sequence.
While the indoor venue witnessed guests enjoying the live karaoke, a well known party DJ from Kolkata and a live engaging bar with a fun Mixologist, the deck turned out to be the most visually engaging evening spot with an immensely talented fire antics performer, juggling and flaring to wow his social audience against the gorgeously lit Kolkata bridge in the background! A good mix of cocktail games, table top engagements along with a social photo-op zone was designed to keep family and friends engaged and entertained.
Talking about the high point of the gala evening, Dipti remarked, “While everybody enjoys a barge party, we wanted to create a unique experience for all our guests and proposed to design a luxury yacht party experience right in the middle of the Hooghly under the Setu with focus being on guest delight. By the end of the evening, delighted by the sheer uniqueness of the concept, our party guests referred to this one a mini-destination getaway for 4 hours!” She further added, “For us, having created this lasting impact on our guests, is mission accomplished already!”
