Radisson Forays Into West Bengal With Maiden Hotel In Siliguri

This 150-room property, set to open by Q2 2028, represents a strategic expansion for the group, aiming to introduce international hospitality standards to India's diverse and emerging markets

In a strategic effort to strengthen its footprint in Eastern India, Radisson Hotel Group has signed its first hotel in West Bengal—the Radisson Hotel Siliguri. This 150-room property is scheduled to open by Q2 2028, representing a key expansion move for the group as it aims to introduce international hospitality standards to India's diverse and emerging markets.

The announcement came during a formal signing ceremony attended by the leadership teams of Radisson Hotel Group South Asia and SBM Group. Siliguri, a critical commercial, transportation, and educational hub, also acts as a gateway to Northeast India, which is a primary target market for the group. The city's proximity to the Himalayas and its easy access to popular destinations like Darjeeling and Dooars make it a desirable location for travellers.

Radisson Hotel Siliguri will be strategically located near Bagdogra International Airport, New Jalpaiguri Railway Station, and Siliguri Junction, ensuring convenient connectivity for both domestic and international travellers, including those from neighbouring countries such as Nepal, Bangladesh, and Bhutan.

“Eastern India holds immense potential for the country’s hospitality ecosystem, with cities and towns endowed with natural beauty and industrial resources. The signing of Radisson Hotel Siliguri reflects our strategic focus on expanding the Group’s footprint in the region, backed by the long-term vision of adding value to the experience of our guests and valued partners. We are enthused by this opportunity and continue to be on the lookout for the right assets and partners for growing our portfolio here,” mentioned Nikhil Sharma, Managing Director and Area Senior Vice President, South Asia, Radisson Hotel Group.

Once it opens, Radisson Hotel Siliguri will boast 150 guest rooms and expansive suites. The hotel will provide an array of amenities, including a fully-equipped fitness centre, a refreshing swimming pool, and a revitalizing spa. Its versatile event spaces, covering an impressive 18,000 square feet, will be ideal for MICE events and memorable gatherings. Guests can also savour culinary delights at the all-day dining restaurant, unwind at the bar, or enjoy a cup of tea at the tea lounge.

RK Goel, Chairman, SBM Group said, “We are proud to be Radisson Hotel Group’s first partner in West Bengal and introduce Radisson Hotel Siliguri to the world. With the Group’s strong brand value and commitment to delivering an exceptional guest experience, we are confident that this hotel will become the preferred choice for travellers coming to the city.”

Radisson Hotel Group continues to be a leading force in the Indian market, with over 180 hotels in operation and development, making it one of the largest international hotel operators in the country. The group has a strong presence in tier-I markets such as Delhi NCR and more than 50 per cent of its portfolio is in tier-II and tier-III markets. With hotels in over 70 locations across India, Radisson Hotel Group ensures that travellers are never more than four hours away from a Radisson property. The group operates under a variety of brands including Radisson Collection, Radisson Blu, Radisson, Radisson Red, Park Inn by Radisson, Park Plaza, Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, and Radisson Individuals.
