Arijit Singh performs at GenM music concert, Birlas' CSR initiative for mental health

Speaking about his association with the GenM music concert, Arijit said before getting up on stage, “I'm extremely thrilled to be a part of this initiative by Mrs. Neerja Birla, Ms. Ananya Birla and their team at Mpower. With everything happening in the world right now, I believe that we all need to come together and stand up for causes that truly affect us. Every voice matters and I'm lending mine too. Our entire team is trying to showcase a new live set. The GenM concert is special. More importantly, I get to witness people standing with me in support of the Mental Health #EarForYou movement. It’s going to be a beautiful experience for everyone involved.”

The brainchild of Neerja Birla and her daughter Ananya Birla, Mpower aims to be the movement to affect change and proactively champion mental health causes, create awareness, advocate prevention and provide services with a professional, holistic and multi-disciplinary approach. With Arijit being the flagbearer of the movement for this annual property, leaders from the entertainment, business and sport domains were present for the concert and lent their support to the cause.

Commenting on the launch of GenM, Neerja Birla, Founder and Chairperson, Mpower Minds, said, “It is widely known that music as a universal language has a positive, calming, soothing effect on mental health. Seeped in melody and rhythm, GenM is a vibrant attempt to bring together our young change makers - the youth - to join the movement and encourage conversation about mental health and stamp out stigma. At Mpower we strongly believe in creating awareness and eradicating stigma associated with mental health. Through this platform we urge everybody to take a pledge and support this cause. We are very happy that Arijit Singh is helping us spread the word.”
